A discussion of resources makes an excellent capstone for this textbook, as most major topics discussed previously relate to the consumption of resources in some way. The increase in Global population means a greater demand for resources. Job opportunities in fossil fuel mining and drilling are a significant pull factor for migration in many countries where fossil fuel extraction is an important part of the economy.

    • Identify the problems associated with the demand for nonrenewable energy resources and the available supply. (MLO 1)

    • Describe the types of renewable and alternative energy resources and global initiatives to leverage these resources. (MLO 3)
