Module 1 Introduction

Welcome to Module 1 of our course. In this module, you will begin to learn about the conventions of academic writing. You will learn some of the basic principles of rhetorical theory, and you will learn how to apply these ideas as you analyze texts. Specifically, you will learn about three essential rhetorical terms: pathos, ethos, and logos.

Be sure to read the syllabus, and please be mindful of assignment deadlines. You will be reading chapters from our Pressbooks textbook, along with additional reading specified by your instructor. You will complete the introductory discussion forum assignment, along with the Module 1 discussion forum. You will also complete your first formal assignment, the Diagnostic Writing Assessment, at the end of the module. 

This module will occupy about 1.5 weeks of class time.
