The urinary system (kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra) plays a vital role in removing waste, balancing fluids and electrolytes, and regulating blood pressure and pH. Nurses assess urinary function by evaluating output, bladder fullness, and urinary patterns, using tools like bladder scanners, urine dipsticks, and urinalysis. They also manage conditions such as UTIs, incontinence, retention, kidney injury, and chronic kidney disease. Understanding the urinary system and its related disorders, making effective assessments, and providing interventions can help prevent serious complications.
