Module Introduction
This section focuses on the importance of development of cultural competence skills. Nurses are required to provide culturally responsive care to all patients. This section will assist students in self-awareness assessment and exploration of other cultural practices and beliefs. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Reflect upon personal and cultural values, beliefs, biases, and heritage (C.O. #4, #6, and #9)
- Embrace diversity, equity, inclusivity, health promotion, and health care for individuals of diverse geographic, cultural, ethnic, racial, gender, and spiritual backgrounds across the life span (C.O. #4, #6, and #9)
- Demonstrate respect, equity, and empathy in actions and interactions with all health care consumers (C.O. #4, #6, and #9)
To achieve these objectives:
- Read the Module 8 Introduction
- Read and view the materials in the Chapter 3 and Chapter 18 of Introduction to Practical Nursing.
- Complete the quiz under the activity tab.
