You will learn how to apply professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respect in every interaction—with clients, families, and health care team members.
Key communication skills include active listening, using caring and respectful language, and adapting your communication style to the situation and audience. You’ll also explore therapeutic communication techniques, proper use of medical terminology, and how to verify that your message is clearly understood.
Clear, professional communication is also critical when working with the interprofessional team. It supports safe handoffs, continuity of care, and accurate documentation. This module will guide you in choosing the right methods for communicating client information and following legal and ethical documentation standards.
Before diving into the content, take a moment to watch the included video. Reflect on the unseen needs people may have—and the difference a nurse can make by building human connection with empathy and care.
