Pre-Unit: Digital Skills Assignment: Teach Fractions on Video
Assessment:
This activity will assess the following learning objectives:
- Express mathematical ideas clearly and correctly both orally and in writing, for purposes of mathematics instruction
- Be able to connect the current Louisiana Students Standards, and NCTM standards to course content.
- Students will use digital tools to create and explain mathematical representations and skills.
Instructions:
Create a 3–5 minute video explaining how you would teach 4-5th grade students the "keep change flip" method of dividing fractions. Speak directly to the 'students' as if you’re teaching live.
Your video should include:
- An introduction of the topic
- Examples
- Problems for students to work
- Comments about common mistakes
