What are You Doing:
Even though you are just starting your communication journey, having a basic understanding of communication concepts is critical. For this assignment meet with a person who you can comfortably have a conversation with, then begin sharing. Talk natural while holding the conversation but take note of the other person’s communication style. Do not take notes during the conversation but immediately after provide your thoughts on the questions below:
When you greeted the person, how did they respond? Did they smile, shake hands what verbal and nonverbal communication was involved?
As the communication episode progressed, how did you know when to speak or when to listen?
Was there verbal communication?
Was there nonverbal communication?
Did you two understand the conversation?
Spend a moment reflecting on the conversation. What concepts/ideas could you have communicated more effectively? What concepts/ideas that your friend communicated, did you not understand? Was the communication episode effective, were all messages sent and received effectively?
