Listening Practice
Course Objectives Covered:
- Obj. 1 Define Key Communication Concepts: By the end of this module, students will define and explain at least five core interpersonal communication concepts, theories, and competencies
- Obj. 2. Become Effective Communicators
- Obj. 3. Navigate Conflict Constructively
Purpose:
Practice your active listening skills. Identify aspects of active listening in a conversation and practice techniques to become a more effective listener
Assignment:
Often, we all find ourselves talking more than listening. You will intentionally listen more than talk and observe how others react. Conduct 2-3 different conversations with friends, family members or co-workers. These need to be actual conversations. As you talk with this person, practice techniques discussed in the reading. While also considering sources of noise. Intentionally practice your active listening skills.
Turn in a two -three page description of the experience. Observations and descriptions need to be based on concepts learned in reading.
