Course Objectives Covered:

Purpose:
You will work in groups to gain practice with small-group communication, Practicing conflict resolution, organizing an argument and presenting a persuasive speech.
Assignment:
Each group will discover and describe an issue at the college. Some example issues may be, parking, difficulties with registration, or need for new degree plans. To do this the group must develop a survey to distribute to students (this will be discussed in class) and speak with school officials who manage the area where the issue originates. With a full understanding of the issue the group will then develop one – two workable solutions to solve the problem. The solutions must be based on research done during the discovery phase. The presentation will be a formal presentation discussing the issue and possible solutions. Each group member must take a speaking role in the in-class presentation.
For turn in – Production notebook that will include; title page (title the presentation, each group members’ name, a one sentence description of issue to be discussed). Next will be a Summary page, which is a one – three paragraph discussion of the issue being discussed. The next page will be a sample of the survey given to students. The final page will be a one – three paragraph discussion of the solution suggested by the group. A Thank You page which will contain the names and contact information of STC administrators spoken to (Minimum of two). The last pages will be the grade sheets of each group member.
