After reviewing the concept of oxygenation and its application to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), reflect on the following:
How does impaired oxygenation affect a patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), and what nursing interventions can support patients with COPD or OSA in maintaining quality of life at home?
In your response, address:
At least one physiological effect of impaired oxygenation
Differences in how COPD and OSA present in patients
A nursing priority for each condition
An evidence-based patient education tip for self-management
