Exam Information and Instructions
Overview
Your Midterm Exam assesses your understanding of the first half of the course (Modules 1–4). It measures how well you can explain key correctional concepts, analyze real-world applications, and apply critical thinking to correctional policies and practices.
Exam Content and Format
The exam covers topics from the following modules:

Module 1: Concepts of Corrections as a Subsystem of the Criminal Justice System

Module 2: Judicial Process and Sentencing Practices for Misdemeanants, Felons, and Juveniles
-
Module 3: Correctional Clients & Special Populations in a Correctional Setting

Module 4: Alternatives to Incarceration
The assessment may include:

Multiple-choice and true/false questions covering key concepts and terminology

Short-answer questions assessing comprehension and application

One brief essay question requiring critical analysis of a correctional issue
Length and Time:

The exam consists of approximately 40–50 questions.

You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam.

The exam is closed-book and single-attempt.
Grading and Weight
The Midterm Exam is worth 20% of your final course grade.
Grades are based on:

Accuracy of responses on objective questions

Depth, clarity, and organization of essay or short-answer responses

Demonstrated understanding of course learning objectives
Preparation and Study Tips
- Review all module readings, discussions, and quizzes from Modules 1–4.
- Focus on key terms, major theories, and examples provided in lectures or readings.
- Revisit any feedback you received on earlier assignments.

Ensure you can apply concepts, not just define them.
Proctoring Requirements (if applicable)
If your section uses an online proctoring tool (such as Respondus or Honorlock):

Test your webcam, microphone, and internet connection before beginning.

You may not leave the testing area once the exam begins.

Academic integrity settings will prevent opening other browser windows or devices.
Academic Integrity
All responses must be your own work. Use of unauthorized materials, notes, or outside help is prohibited. Violations of the Academic Integrity Policy will result in a zero for the exam and possible disciplinary action.

Notify your instructor by email with the course name and a brief description of the issue.
Submission Reminder
Once you submit the exam, your attempt is final. Be sure to click “Submit All and Finish” to record your responses.
