Database Navigation Guided Tutorial
This page provides a guided tutorial on Database Navigation for PubMed and CINAHL. You will need to use either the PubMed or CINAHL database for the Database Navigation Assignment.
Guided Tutorial: Using PubMed
- Accessing PubMed: Go to site
- Basic Search: Use the search bar to enter keywords (e.g., 'type 2 diabetes treatment').
- Refine Results: Use filters on the left such as Article type, Text availability, Publication date, Species.
- Access Full Text: Click a title, then locate “Full Text Links” on the right.
- Cite the Article: Click on “Cite” on the right toolbar for citation styles (APA, MLA, etc.).
Guided Tutorial: Using CINAHL
- Accessing CINAHL: Login via your college library site and locate the CINAHL database.
- Search Techniques: Use Boolean operators like AND, OR, NOT to refine results.
- Limit Your Search: Use filters for peer-reviewed sources, publication date, subject headings.
- View Abstract and Full Text: Click a title, read the abstract, and choose PDF Full Text if available.
- Save and Cite: Use database tools to save, email, or cite the article.
