This introductory module provides an overview of intravenous (IV) therapy, including its purpose, scope, and relevance in clinical practice. Students will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of healthcare providers involved in IV therapy, with a focus on the practical and professional expectations for nursing personnel. The module also explores key legal and ethical principles, such as informed consent, documentation standards, patient rights, scope of practice, and accountability. Emphasis is placed on understanding regulatory guidelines, professional standards, and ethical decision-making to promote safe, legal, and compassionate IV therapy practice.

- Summarize the major legal implications and limitations of intravenous therapy related to the Louisiana Nurse Practice Act. (C.O. #1)
- Identify and explain ethical principles that guide the practice of intravenous therapy. (M.O. #2)
