This assignment addresses course outcomes 1, 2, and 3 and module learning objectives 8.1 and 8.2.
Submit a reflection of your own thoughts on the prompt below. Your task is to read Chapter 8 of the Criminology text and submit at least 500 words.
Cultural criminologists argue that crime is often turned into entertainment. Choose a media example that presents crime to an audience. This could be a reality television show, a podcast, a video game, a YouTube series, or a trend on TikTok. How does this example shape how viewers think about crime and justice? Does it make crime feel exciting? Scary? Justified? Humorous? What does this say about how our culture understands violence and/or punishment? Use examples from the media and course readings to support your response. (M.O #2)
